We are working alongside a fantastic surgery, which has been established within the community since 1932 caring for large and small animals. They have a large team with a vast level of experience, knowledge and offering a fantastic opportunity to share ideas and methods. You will be fantastically supported with a team of highly qualified RVNs, who are welcoming and have huge amounts of passion. In addition to this they have support staff in the form of a lab technician to make sure all tests are executed to the highest standard and swiftly. A back of house team, including two practice managers (one focusing on finance), a team of welcoming and caring receptionists who bring a smile to every pet and owner that walks through the door.
As a Head Veterinary Surgeon, you will have a vast range of daily duties. You will be providing ongoing support in the running of the practice and then you will be reporting to the Clinical Director directly. You will need to ensure all clinical cases are managed appropriately in the absence of the Clinical Director. Daily, you will be heavily involved in the efficient running of the practice, ensuring all communication and clinical protocols are delivered and maintained.
Duties will include being competent with a standard first opinion caseload and surgeries, but also have awareness of when second opinion is required. Fantastic communication skills to perform your daily duties are a must! As Head Veterinary Surgeon you will be in contact with clients regarding queries, cost of treatment and courses of treatment.
We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 5 years’ postgraduate clinical experience and you will need to have a history of maintaining consistent work and to a high standard. You will have key awareness of when a second opinion or referral is required either in-house or external. Our client is looking for an individual who has a proven track record of leadership, overseeing nursing care with surgery, working closely with a head nurse on staffing/work issues.
A full driving licence is essential for this role. Desirable qualities for the role are previous familiarities with Word, Excel, email and web-based communication.
Working Hours & Benefits
• Salary is between 45k-55k DOE
