About the practice

Do you have a passion for ward nursing?  Do you enjoy working with a diverse range of caseloads?

We are working with a well-established, RCVS accredited small animal hospital near Wakefield that are looking for a RVN with a focus on ward nursing. They are a purpose-built site with fantastic facilities, with RCVS accreditation and as a VN Training site there is a huge variety day to day. They over their own OOH and as a result ensure all cases are worked through from start to finish on site.

This is the perfect position for a Nurse looking to progress in all aspects of in-patient and hospital-based nursing within a supportive environment.

Duties and hours

40 hours per week including 1:5 weekends and an equal share of the bank holiday rota. No OOH.

  • Ensure precise, efficient, and accurate ward rounds are carried out.
  • Work with the medical team to ensure all procedures are carried out as required for in patients.
  • Practice good hospital hygiene and maintain infection control check lists in all wards.
  • Accurate record keeping, especially with regards to kennel sheets.
  • Ensure effective handovers between patients.
  • Participate in daily huddles and team meetings.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly nurse meetings.
  • Monitor intensive care patients.
  • Take responsibility for your patients from admit to discharge.

  • RCVS registered.
  • You will be proactive, enthusiastic, approachable, a great team player, able to use your own initiative and be self-motivated.
  • Experience working in a hospital is beneficial but not essential.
  • High clinical standards & gold standard patient care.
  • All experience levels welcome.
  • Someone who is looking to develop their career.
  • You shall have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task with a flexible approach to working are essential.

  • Starting salary of £27,000 per annum, this is increased depending on experience.
