As of yesterday evening (17th March), the government have decided to postpone the changes in IR35 legislation until April 2021.

Due to COVID-19, the government have decided it would not be a favourable time to change the legislation as it will affect a lot of people (not just in the veterinary industry) and how they work & therefore get paid. In such an uncertain time because of extenuating factors, it would be unfair to change how a vast amount of people across the country get paid and work (especially when our economy is at a turbulent time). Self-employed workers have a variety of struggles because of the Coronavirus, so this has been postponed to alleviate some stress, work insecurity and confusion.

This is therefore amazing news for our locums and surgeries. Our lovely locums can carry on as normal (through a limited company or umbrella) for the next year. Woohooooo! Obviously, there are some complications with locum work due to Coronavirus currently, but we are here to help in any way we can.

We are always here to try and answer any questions you all have regarding IR35 over the next year, but for now, normality continues.

Any queries, please call 01904 471 400 or email accounts@vnrecruitment.co.uk and we will be more than happy to help.

All our love & best wishes, the VNR team x
