VN Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established, independent minded small animal practice in the Glasgow (East Dunbartonshire) area to recruit an enthusiastic RVN to join their friendly and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse looking to become part of a stable practice that encourages professional growth while maintaining a positive team culture.

The Practice

Our client is an RCVS Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) accredited practice, an approved RVN Training Practice, a Silver Cat Friendly Clinic and is currently working towards the Silver Investors in Environment Award.

The practice is purpose-built and exceptionally well equipped, with facilities including:

  • Fully equipped in-house laboratory (ProCyte, Catalyst One, InVue Dx and Sedivue Dx)
  • Ultrasound
  • Digital radiography
  • Dedicated dental x-ray
  • Tonometer
  • Patient warming equipment
  • Fluid pumps
  • Syringe drivers
  • And much more

The nursing team is actively encouraged to use its full range of clinical skills, with nurses playing an integral role in patient care. The Head Nurse is an experienced Clinical Coach supporting the Student Veterinary Nurse, and the practice places a strong emphasis on CPD and ongoing professional development. Anaesthesia is a particular area of interest within the team, and applicants with an interest in this area will be well supported.

You’ll be joining a welcoming and experienced team of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, a Student Veterinary Nurse, Receptionists and a dedicated Practice Manager. Excellent staffing levels ensure protected breaks, dedicated admin time and a collaborative working environment. The practice also works alongside a visiting Orthopaedic Specialist, providing exposure to a varied and rewarding caseload.

The Role

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an RVN who enjoys a varied caseload and wants to work in a practice where nurses are trusted, respected and encouraged to develop.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality nursing care across medical and surgical cases
  • Monitoring anaesthesia and supporting surgical procedures
  • Providing inpatient care and nurse consultations
  • Supporting and mentoring the Student Veterinary Nurse
  • Working closely with the wider clinical team
  • Delivering exceptional patient and client care

Hours

  • Full-time or part-time applications considered
  • 35–40 hours per week (full-time)
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays
  • No Sundays
  • No OOH

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • You will ideally have at least a year experience post qualification
  • Be passionate about delivering exceptional patient care
  • Have excellent communication and client care skills
  • Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team
  • Be keen to continue developing clinically
  • Have a genuine commitment to animal welfare
