Our client is a purpose built, rapidly expanding multi-disciplinary referral centre based just 25 minutes from Edinburgh and 40 minutes from Glasgow. The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Lead Medicine Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join an expanding Medicine team. This hands on leadership role combines advanced clinical nursing with the opportunity to lead, mentor, and shape the future of the Medicine service.
Working alongside specialist clinicians, you will support the delivery of outstanding care to a varied referral caseload while driving high clinical standards, developing nursing protocols, and supporting the professional growth of the Medicine nursing team.
Hours
- Permanent, full-time position
- 40 hours per week
- Weekend participation and on call duties included
Day to day duties
- Provide exceptional nursing care to Medicine inpatients and referral cases.
- Assist with advanced diagnostics and medical procedures.
- Confidently monitor anaesthesia across a wide range of routine, complex, emergency, and critically ill patients.
- Work collaboratively with Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Dermatology, Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Anaesthesia, and Imaging teams.
- Support patient care using advanced imaging modalities including radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, and MRI.
- Act as a senior member of the Medicine nursing team, providing day-to-day leadership and clinical support.
- Mentor, coach, and develop RVNs and student nurses.
- Assist with rota planning and the daily organisation of the department.
- Help develop and implement clinical protocols and best practices.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and supportive working culture.
- Ensure excellent patient care, client communication, and efficient patient flow.
Who are we looking for?
- RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an RVN (referral experience advantageous).
- Confident monitoring anaesthesia across a variety of complex cases.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Passionate about mentoring and developing others.
- A proactive, collaborative approach with excellent communication skills.
- Previous senior or leadership experience is desirable but not essential, as ongoing leadership development and support will be provided.
