We’re working with a modern, purpose built small animal practice looking to recruit an experienced Deputy Head Nurse to join their friendly and supportive team.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to step into a Deputy Head Nurse position, supporting the Head Nurse in leading the nursing team and maintaining the highest clinical standards.

You’ll play an important role in driving clinical efficiency, governance and continuous improvement while remaining hands-on in all aspects of nursing. This role offers an excellent balance of leadership responsibilities and clinical work, making it ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others while still being actively involved in patient care.

Hours

  • Full-time position.
  • Four-day working week.
  • Nine-hour shifts.
  • A varied rota including consulting, inpatient and theatre nursing.
  • 1 in 4 weekend rota.
  • Duty nights on a rotating basis.
  • Flexible working options available for the right candidate.

Day to day duties

  • Support the Head Nurse with the leadership of the nursing team.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care across consultations, theatre and inpatient wards.
  • Help maintain high clinical standards and best practice throughout the practice.
  • Support clinical governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and support members of the nursing team.
  • Build strong relationships with clients through excellent communication and customer care.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider clinical team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
